چکیده

In recent years, non-linear loads on the distribution side are increasing rapidly. Notably, electric arc furnace (EAF) is most used load due to its diverse applications for industrial needs. However, EAF has some disadvantages like uneven of heat inside furnace, release unwanted gases, increased level harmonics, and Flickers in voltages. Specifically, power quality concerns more need comprehensive solutions. this work, a matrix converter (MC) along with static VAR compensator (SVC) proposed, hybrid exponential-hyperbolic model adapted MATLAB platform. Simulations carried out different cases observed results compared existing methodologies. It was perceived that parameters such as peak current voltages, total harmonic distortions (THDs), voltage flickers, factors enhanced Precisely, THD attains prime rate about 2.85% 29.54%, respectively. Moreover, proposed model’s flicker factor offer grander scale 1.26% 0.9975, The scheme provides significant advantages large-scale steel manufacturing plant EAF.

Voltage Stability Improvement using Static Var Compensator in Power Systems

This paper investigates the effects of Static Var Compensator (SVC) on voltage stability of a power system. The functional structure for SVC built with a Thyristor Controlled Reactor (TCR) and its model are described. The model is based on representing the controller as variable impedance that changes with the firing angle of the TCR. A Power System Computer Aided Design /Electromagnetic Transi...

Employing Grey System Model for Prediction of Electric Arc Furnace Reactive Power to Improve Compensator Performance

Electric arc furnaces (EAFs) are regarded as one of the major sources of voltage fluctuation in power systems which can contribute to a phenomenon known as flicker. One of the most convenient ways to mitigate flicker is employing static VAr compensators (SVCs). By employing prediction models to forecast EAF reactive power SVC performance can be improved very noticeably. In this paper a Grey sys...

Dynamic Stability Enhancement of Power Transmission System Using Artificial Neural Network Controlled Static Var Compensator

Voltage level of the system changes at the time of fault and the drop in the load voltage leads to an increased demand for the reactive power that, if not met by the power system leads to a further decline in the bus voltage. This decline eventually leads to a progressive rapid decline of voltage at that location, which may have a cascading effect on neighboring regions that causes voltage coll...
